Tipitina's Foundation

Community & Culture

Tipitina’s Foundation supports Louisiana and New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and preserves the state’s unique musical cultures. The Foundation grew out of the Tipitina’s music venue, a revered New Orleans cultural icon that continues to be instrumental in the development and promotion of Louisiana music around the world. Tipitina's Foundation was established to promote childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians, and the increased profile and viability of Louisiana music as a cultural, educational, and economic resource.

Founded in 2003, Tipitina’s Foundation has to date provided $3.15 million worth of musical instruments to over 100 Louisiana school music programs. That number comes from just one of their programs known as Instruments A Comin’. Upon selecting a recipient school, Tipitina's Foundation works closely with each band director, who is ultimately responsible for the success and improvement of the school's music program. The Foundation plays a leading role in assisting band directors throughout the area by providing necessary resources to their schools.

Another program, Sunday Youth Music Workshops, offer young, aspiring musicians the opportunity to play with and learn from some of the area’s most experienced and celebrated musicians. Every workshop is free and offers students a hands-on, improvisational approach to music education. This and several other programs and opportunities are provided to Louisiana’s youth thanks to Tipitina’s Foundation.

Louisiana’s musical future is in good hands. All that is left to do is continue to support the work that they do. When you donate to their Screens For Good campaign you’re not just getting MORE TUBA, you’re giving it too.
