Tackle Hunger is a national 501(c)(3) who started the signature Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser 35 years ago to help local food charities to make sure no one goes "without a bowl of soup to eat" during the coldest time of the year, around the Big Game where millions unite around sports. Thousands of groups in all 50 states participate in their free fundraising programs to support local food charities with close to $200 million in impact. Not only has Tackle Hunger grown to include year-round opportunities, but food charities trust their help, support and network no matter how big or small their impact. Tackle Hunger endeavors to create awareness and action so all food charities have the critical resources they need to help food insecure neighbors. Learn more at www.tacklehunger.org.

In Support of Culture Aid NOLA

Mission:

Culture Aid NOLA’s mission is to provide no-barrier, no-stigma food aid to underserved members of New Orleans' cultural community with dignity, grace, and hospitality.

Organizational Purpose, Mission, and History:

Culture Aid NOLA emerged as a collaborative effort among several cultural service nonprofits to combat food insecurity exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially operating under the fiscal sponsorship of the New Orleans Musicians' Assistance Foundation, Culture Aid NOLA obtained its independent 501(c)(3) designation on January 1, 2021. Since then, the organization has established core programming centered around twice-weekly free grocery distributions, serving an average of 2,800 families each month.

In its four years of service, Culture Aid NOLA has distributed 3.5 million pounds of food through over 315 events, without requiring identification or proof of income from guests. Community members can access free food on a walk-up or drive-up basis every Wednesday evening at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and every Saturday morning at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church. While respecting guest privacy, the organization tracks the number of individuals served per family, as well as their age demographics.

In the past 4 years, Culture Aid NOLA has served over 4 Million lbs of food over 375 distributions. We serve an average of 2,800 people a week. The organization also partners with entities such as Bastion, Greater New Orleans Citizens' Relief Team, New Orleans Community Fridges, and Lowernine.org to distribute food across the city.
