1988 - to build homes, communities, and hope

Habitat for Humanity knows that without a solid foundation, you cannot build a house—or a life. At HabiJax, a local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, we help Jacksonville families, businesses and communities build their homes and neighborhoods, through hard work and dedication, so they can continue to build a better life — and provide them with the tools sustain it. HabiJax provides a foundation of hope on which to build the home— and life—they’ve always dreamed of.

HabiJax has served over 2,000 families with homeownership opportunities since 1988. Families like Redericka and her two boys - who moved in with her mother after her divorce to save money for a place of their own. Their HabiJax home has given them stability, permanence and hope. Families like Carroll, who lived for most of his adult life in shared apartments, rooming houses, and a treatment facility, never having a place to call home. HabiJax gave Carroll hope to change the direction of his life.

With $1,000 HabiJax could create A landscaped Yard - It’s where we enjoy the Florida sunshine. A space where kids can run and play. A cherished spot to plant a garden and watch it grow. A landscaped yard is the finishing touch on a HabiJax home.

With $2,000 HabiJax could build a child's bedroom. A bedroom can mean so much to a child. It can be a quiet place where they study, learn, and explore. It can be a fun space, where they’re excited, not embarrassed, to invite friends over for slumber parties. It’s a safe place to curl up and sleep through the night.

With $5,000 HabiJax could build a home’s kitchen. For many families, the kitchen can serve as the heart of the home. It’s the place where we learn favorite recipes and talk about upcoming events and our days at work and at school. It’s where we sneak to in the middle of the night for a small snack. It’s where we gather to make and enjoy meals together.

In 5 years we hope to accomplish our mission with more families. We hope to continue being a catalyst for community transformation and provide a solid foundation for a better life for families working hard to build it.
