A message from Relief NOW's founder Ryan Fitzmorris:
"First, we’d like to extend gratitude for everyone who has been supportive of our endeavors over the last month.
With that said we have gotten the ball rolling on our efforts to assist our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico. We have worked our contacts in the trucking and shipping business to finalize all logistics and costs associated with this operation. Our estimates show a ballpark figure of $125,000, which includes everything the cost of the containers plus shipping, fuel and port fees, and most importantly the supplies.
Our goal is to ship four shipping cargo containers that can hold 58,000lbs each 5-6 weeks from now. The containers would ship either the first or second week of November and we would meet them down there.
We would then split the shipments and establish 2 points of distribution in 2 communities outside of San Juan, where we would distribute supplies and serve a warm meals. These 4 containers would service the needs of up to 40,000 people. We shoot for the stars because we know we can get there, WITH YOUR HELP!!!!!
The logistics of this are great, but we wanted to ensure that this operation is planned correctly and accurately as that is the only way to obtain maximum impact and ensure that your donations get to where they’re needed the most.
We know you have questions, which we will happily answer as we continue to iron out this grand endeavor.
