The Eagle Saloon Initiative

The Eagle Saloon Initiative was established in 2016 to generate funds for the restoration of the Eagle Saloon building, located at 401 South Rampart Street in Downtown New Orleans.

The Eagle Saloon Initiative (ESI) is dedicated to revitalizing the historic Eagle Saloon as a performance hall, museum space, and center for youth outreach and music education.

With the help of over 350 donors, the ESI has successfully raised the funds necessary for the stabilization of the 165-year-old building. In the first phase of fundraising, the ESI held a Cinco de Mayo pop-up show. The event featured performances from George Porter Jr., Tank and the Bangas, Big Sam Williams, and Eric Krasno. This incredibly special evening marked the <strong>first time</strong> music had been performed on the premises in three decades.

With the final stabilization of the building right around the corner, we're turning our focus to funding a Youth Outreach and Music Education Center on the building's third floor. Following the establishment of the Youth Education Center, the ESI will look to fund a museum space on the second level, and a performance hall on the ground floor.

Reaching an initial goal of $1,000 would be a terrific boost to the Eagle Saloon Initiative. The campaign earnings would be put towards the Youth Outreach Fund, which will give local youth a chance to witness and interact with their musical forefathers and their legacies, all while creating a legacy of their own. Funds raised would also assist in securing a number of educational resources, including but not limited to; instruments, teachers, school supplies, and other musical equipment. 

Accomplishing a goal of $2,000 would go directly to our Phase II Youth Outreach Fund drive, and would help cover costs of a Master class series featuring legendary local talent, like Nicholas Payton, Donald Harrison, and DJ Mannie Fresh.

Achieving a final goal of $5,000 would be an incredible aid to the ESI's mission of city-wide, non-discriminatory, Music Education. These funds would help cover a shuttle or van system that we could provide for kids who might not otherwise have access to transportation.

It is our dream that the Eagle Saloon will thrive again as a living, breathing, breeding ground of musical discovery and creation by young minds. We want to be an accessible venue that provides AMAZING live music, 7 nights a week, and features a world-class museum based on New Orleans music, and boasts an education center where local youth can learn and create in a life-changing environment.
