The Saints' Sack King
For more than a decade, Cameron Jordan has been the most reliable, most consistent, and most terrifying defensive player the New Orleans Saints have ever employed. And in a franchise that produced the Dome Patrol, that's saying something.
Jordan wasn't born in New Orleans — he grew up in Arizona, the son of former Vikings tight end Steve Jordan. But when the Saints drafted him twenty-fourth overall in 2011, he became a New Orleanian in every way that matters. He stayed. He dominated. He never left.
Eight Pro Bowls. First-Team All-Pro in 2017. Named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. And in Week 17 of the 2022 season, Jordan became the Saints' all-time sack leader, surpassing the legendary Rickey Jackson with his 132nd career sack in a Saints uniform. That record had stood for nearly three decades, and Jordan broke it the only way he knows how — by getting to the quarterback.
What makes Jordan special isn't just the talent. It's the longevity and the loyalty. In an era when star players hop from team to team chasing rings and contracts, Jordan spent his entire career in New Orleans. He became the face of the Saints' defense the way Drew Brees was the face of the offense — the guy who showed up every Sunday, played through injuries, and refused to give anything less than everything.
After the 2024 season, Jordan received the Bart Starr Award for his contributions on and off the field — recognition that his impact extended beyond the stat sheet. He's been a pillar of the New Orleans community, a family man, and a model of what it means to commit to a city.
Cam Jordan chose New Orleans, and New Orleans chose him back. He's the Saints' all-time sack leader, and no amount of statistics can capture what it meant to have a player of his caliber choose to spend his entire career in black and gold.
