Located in the heart of New Orleans' famous Faubourg Marigny, Vaughn's is the go-to spot for live music in the city. Originally opened as a bar and restaurant by owner Jimmy Anselmo in 1968, Vaughn’s quickly became a popular hangout for locals looking for good food and exciting entertainment.
Since then, Vaughn’s has firmly established itself as a thriving music venue hosting everything from blues to jazz to funk—with some of New Orleans' best musicians taking to its stage on any given night. Drawing in both local patrons and tourists alike, Vaughn’s warm atmosphere is timeless—covering everything from low-brow bar snacks to creative cocktails.
Vaughn's has achieved international fame due to its connection to one of the most influential figures in brass band music: super chef Emeril Lagasse. As a way of supporting the vibrant jazz scene he grew up with, Lagasse decided to invest in Vaughn’s—allowing them to continue providing exceptional entertainment while also improving their soundsystem and expanding their kitchen menu.
Since his involvement, Vaughn’s has become increasingly well known for its passionate commitment to preserving traditional Louisiana music through live performances. They have hosted legends like Dr John and Allen Toussaint, as well as provided opportunities for up-and-coming artists like The Young Olympia Brass Band.
From Wednesdays Bluegrass Jam Sessions to Saturday night Brass Band Bonanzas—no matter what type of musical performance it is, you can always count on Vaughn's delivering an unforgettable experience. The energy that radiates from this New Orleans joint is truly contagious, transforming anyone who steps foot into it into an instant fan.
